OK, Folks, there has been enough interest out there to start another Knitting 101 class, so that's what we did - it will be Thursday evenings (K104 is on Tuesdays). Looks like I have at least 7 students! Yay! This has been turning out to be such a blessing in my life! I am very thankful.
PS - two of my sock class students, who have been with me since the beginning in September, came into class last night wearing the hats they made in K103! They looked so cute, and proud to wear their work!

WIP me, Baby!
The following are two of my latest WIP's (for my non-knitty readers, that would be Work in Progress). The first is a Christmas present (yah I know, I'm a little late, lucky he understands!) for my dear BIL Javi. The yarn is Kathmandu Aran Tweed. It is really nice to work with. FYI, I had started a couple of hats for him, but I never liked the way the yarn worked up - plus, the second one set off my carpal tunnel!!! This one isn't giving me a bit of grief, so it should knit up fairly quickly. Javi said it's OK, but hurry up before it gets warm outside!

This is my sock from my knitting class - K104, Knitting socks from the toe up on 2 circs. The yarn is by Opal and I love love love it!!!!!

New Class starting tonight
Tonight I start a new class at You're So Crafty - knitting socks from the toe up on two circular needles. This one will be on Tuesdays, and next week I start a new beginners' class on Thursdays. Teaching knitting has exceeded my expectations, I am really loving it.
Well, wish me luck!
: )
******an addendum since last post....the class went great! Woohoo! All my students rock!

A Studded Collar....
...for my finger!
Here is the hand of the one who does the work....I was messing around and cast on 16 sts on size 2 dpn's with Knit Picks Palette, worked 2 rnds, then strung 8 sterling silver beads (on every other st) over one round using a tiny crochet hook, then knit another rnd then bind off. Voila! A studded collar ring.Sunday, January 13, 2008
Two FO's in 24 Hours
I finally finished Olivia's socks made with Austermann Step. She's modeling them with Teddy.
After I finished the socks last night, it wasn't quite time for bed, so I cast on this feather and fan lace scarf for my Memere Vienneau's birthday. I just finished it off, so it will go out in the mail tomorrow. It has a long travel ahead - South Texas to New Brunswick, Canada!
Here's a close up of the detail. I really love F&F lace - it is so simple yet elegant. I knit it using Reynold's Opalesce. It practically glows, it is so shimmery. I hope my grandmother will like it!

Still here
Here is my apologetic blog - I am still here and alive....and don't know where the time has gone. I am almost finished a Baby Surprise Jacket from The Opinionated Knitter and I think I may run out of yarn to complete the sequence! I might have to finish it out of sequence! UGH!!! I took a few pics of the progress, which I will post when I am done, so the whole thing can be seen. It is the coolest knit and I am so glad to have done it! I really didn't have a recipient in mind, so I am not sure what I will do with it. It is cool - retro colors! I am about a third of the way done Oliv's Step sock, which I will show you when they are finished and on her feet.
On the home front, I took down the tree and all decorations the day after Christmas! I was tired of it already! I was ready to re-claim the small amount of space I have. We had a great New Years Eve at a friend's house, then to DH's Grandpa's for the countdown, a tradition we still haven't missed for all these years! The only thing is I forgot to do the Mexican Hot Chocolate and Bunelos, so I made those today, along with several dozen tamales. I say that so non-chalantly, but Oh, Dear! What work! And they took triple the time to steam, which means I did something wrong. The end product was pretty good, though. I ate wayyyy tooooo many, which means, well, you know......I really need to start walking again!
I work tomorrow at You're So Crafty... I am going to run a series of Knitting Workshops which will be an hour long, held every third Saturday. I will cover things like: prayer shawls, reading patterns, lace basics, and so on. I am so looking forward to this. My favorite thing to do is share my excitement for knitting! It is the greatest reward to see my students develop such a love for the craft.
Well, I will try to post some photos very soon, maybe Monday. The girls go back to school and it will be me and my DS again.
Well, Peace Out, Knit Sibs! (And others who stop by to read!!!!)
