Time???

This cute quiz is going around in the Lone Star State Knitters group I belong to. I am 6:49 AM.

You're 6:49 a.m.
You're the time of day right around sunrise, when the sky is still a pale bluish gray. The streets are empty, and the grass and leaves are a little bit sparkly with dew. You are the sound of a few chirpy birds outside the window. You are quiet, peaceful, and contemplative. If you move slowly, it's not because you're lazy ? it's because you know there's no reason to rush. You move like a relaxed cat, pausing for deep stretches that make your muscles feel alive. You are long sips of tea or coffee (out of a mug that's held with both hands) that slowly warm your insides just as the sun is brightening the sky. 15% of the people who took this quiz got the same evaluation.

OTN

No pics for you yet, but OTN are another feather and fan scarf - the yarn a beautiful mohair that is all the colors of the sea. My friend is having triplets and I am on my first of six baby socks, all done with yarn left over from my family's socks. Also some flame wave socks from Favorite Socks - they are gorgeous - in knit picks bare superwash fingering wt - but I have to rip back and do another inch before starting the gusset. It's been a little hard concentrating with the medicine I am on...I do a little bit at a time, but I am trucking on. Soon, after the toe- up class, I think I will rip out my plain vanilla sock that I have been knitting for the class and start over using a Cookie A pattern...to be determined. I will keep you posted! (I think I am suffering a case of knitter's ADD).

I do other things besides knit....

Here is a birthday cake made for a friend who turned the big 50.
And by the way - the meds I was given for the shingles are working great! The spot on my neck is all dried up and there haven't been any new ones. The only problem is that I am very light sensitive and my eyes and head hurt. I am half way there, though, and know it will be over soon.

Monday, February 18, 2008

I went to the Dr today and I found out that I have the shingles! Yikes! I was in the dr's office for 2 1/2 hours, so got some serious knitting done! That's the good thing! I am on a very aggressive anti-viral regime for 7 days (a total of 140 pills!) and hopefully will feel better by the time that's over. I just pray that it doesn't get worse, because it's fairly mild right now. I am paranoid of every tingle and itch I feel, hoping it's not a new spot coming out!
Please send some prayers this way...staying cooped up for a week can be trying!!!!
Thanks!

WIPS and sweet things

I started a pair for Sophia with Opal Tutti Frutti...here's the toe. Magic Loop.

Here is a sample bib for the knitting ministry - I have been doing some test knitting for it and came up with this simple bib. I'll probably try a small afghan as well. This is with Knit Picks CotLin and it is so nice once knitted up.

There's only one word to describe this: Awwww.

A baby set and Student FO's and a WIP

A baby bib for my friend Jackies. Note the last minute red marker embellishment gracefully added by my son. (***addendum***the marker stain came out! Yay! Washable markers rock!)
The coloring on the picture isn't so great, but it's a matching burp cloth from Mason Dixon Knitting. I love how that looks.
Here's the set.
A finished toe-up sock made by my student Jan, modeled by Jan. Great Job!!
Jan went sock crazy and made a LOT of socks. Here's another one.
My friend's hubby went to Peru on a mission trip and brought me 10 skeins of Alpaca Soft, bought right from a lady who was selling it at market. After months, I finally decided to make a shrug with it. The pattern is Mell by Berrocco. You can see it on the pic under the WIP. I just love the alpace yarn. It makes me feel all fuzzy and warm. : )
