Pics

The epitome of handsome (but don't tell HIM that!!)
The rooster and his nuts....Hehe!
Let me in, Let me in!!!! (He stood there at the door for an hour, wanting to come in, but I stuck him back in his cage - the purpose for letting him out is to go and be free and eat bugs!)
The two rulers of the roost (or so they think)
Sophia my animal lover.
Yaya the beautiful...

DH Ankle Sock

So the socks that I have been making for Danny were meant to be taller, but when I tried it on him for fit after I was done the heel, he loved it as an ankle sock. It is not complete in this pic - I still did 4 rows of ribbing then I bound off. I will post another pic after the set is complete and on the model. : )

I love the way the stripes are turning out.

Have a great day!

Ravelry Me

I got my invite to Ravelry yesterday. As I was waiting for this invite, I kept thinking...Is this all it's hyped up to be??? Well, I have to answer that with a nice big YES. It is really cool, and I can see how it might take away from knitting time! Hehe! I got four projects onto my page, which are all featured here, and I think I will go knit for a bit now. But yes, I am happy to be on Ravelry! My screen name there is Knittingloca (of course!).

Peace Out...

I know the answer...

OK, I know the answer to knit or to pick. I offered the pecans for sale (cut out the middle man, so to speak) and someone ordered 350 pounds!!!! So the answer is, we will be picking. Hehe!

Remember our rooster Eddie? He is now allowed out of his cage and he follows me around like a little puppy dog. Where I go he goes!!!! It is so sweet.

Gotta get dinner cooked so we can pick some more before dark, so Toodles! (Or cockadoodledoodles!)

Going NUTS!!!

OK, so as if I needed another thing to do with my time, the pecan harvest this year is absolutely huge. In my yard, I have about 20-30 pecan trees, which are dropping their goods left and right. One morning I picked for a half hour, sold them, and made about $10.00. The thing is, there are soooo many pecans and if I don't pick them, it's like leaving money laying around! We are having a fabulous cold snap today....they are announcing a high of 58, so once the rain settles, I will feel an obligation to be a picking queen.

SO....do I knit or do I pick????

The socks for DH are coming so fast! I started one Saturday AM, and with all the weekend duties, I still managed to knit half a sock! I only wish DH and I had the same shoe size...these are NICE! You'll see a pic very soon.

Blessings on your day,
XO

Just keep knitting, Just keep knitting, Just keep knitting, knitting, knitting.....

I was messing around last night, playing with different toe-up cast on techniques that I have read about and learned, like the Turkish cast on, Figure 8 cast on, and Judy's Magic cast on. Anyways, I liked but didn't love the results, so I came up with my own cast on technique that made the nicest toe! Of course, there is nothing new under the sun, and I am sure I am not the only one who came up with this, but that's OK - it works for me!!!! So I started some socks in Steinbach Wolle Aktiv Effekt color 10 and Oh My Goodness! It is really nice! And after the Jaywalkers, they are knitting up so quickly (plain vanilla) and DH was eyeing them and I asked if he liked the color and he really does, so he's gonna get a new pair of socks soon...I'll post a pic when #1 is done.

Goin' For a walk.......a Jaaaayyyyyywalk (FINALLY!)

Finally a FO - my Jaywalkers are complete. But of course, a low to go with the high! I found a dropped stitch on the 2nd one, right where the heel flap starts! Yikes!!!! I will be able to fix it w/o ripping back, thankfully! Because they are mine, for someone else, I would have to ribbit.
OK here they are, in their fraternal twin glory:

***an addendum....i was able to fix my snafu and I can't even find the spot now, so PHEW!!!!!

First Session Knitting...Over!

My first session of Knitting 101 is now over! My students did an awesome job on their felted purses. I love how they each did something different from the other. They all had design freedom and it was great to see how each student came up with a different purse.

Next week, we will begin Knitting 102, and we will be doing a cabled ribbed scarf. I hope that there will be enough students to do another Knitting 101 - it was a lot of fun and I can't wait to teach more people how to knit. The reward is so great when my students actually find that they LOVE to knit and can't wait to move on to the next skill.

OTN - the second Jaywalker. I have about an inch or two to go then decrease for the toes. I have only one set of Addis and some friends want to learn toe up socks on 2 circs, so I have to free the ones I am using. I will be doing some in Steinbach Wolle Aktiv Effekt color #10 - I am anxious to see how these turn out!

Hoping my next post is complete Jaywalkers. Oh yeah...Next week, I plan to get some Mary Jane Crocs to wear with my socks. Believe it or not, all the socks I have made went to other people, and these are actually the first ones I'll be keeping. The Step ones went to my mom for her birthday.

Allrightythen....have a wonderful day, Blessings!

Wimberly fun - Alpacas and glass

Today we went to the Old Oaks Ranch in Wimberley TX - it is an alpaca ranch and they spin, weave, teach classes, sell goodies, etc...Here I am with D Jr and Romeo the alpaca and his friend (whose name I don't know!). What tender creatures!

Here is Danny feeding Quan Yen, the baby alpaca.

Here's Olivia feeding her.....

And Sophia........

Then we went to Wimberley Glassworks. In the entrance I saw this real live scorpion. This is the first live scorpion I see in TX since I moved here in '94. The girls at the shop asked if I was from TX, and said they see scorpions all the time, and to not worry about it! I took a pic, though.

Here is the glass artist (what is the word for it???) with his work in the oven. Please forgive the lack of technical terms... we got there 20 minutes before closing, and when they explained the steps, we couldn't really hear them.

Here is the artist with his finished work.

This was such a cool day! Between the ranch and the glass shop, we stopped at the candy store!!! Yeah for the kids!!!!!

We are all really enjoying my mother's visit, and we will be sad to see her leave.

The Best Bunch of Students!!!

OK I have to tell you that my seven students are the greatest!!!! They have all learned basic knitting skills, they are doing the knitting so very well, and they are enthusiastic and excited about it! And the best part, they are all developing a LOVE for knitting, which is the best reward for me.
Girls if you are reading this, I love ya! And I am very proud of you! And I will post your pic if I remember my camera next Tuesday!!!!

SOTS

Secret of the Stole

This is my swatch for the Secret of the Stole. Phew! I can see my mistakes, but this is my first venture into lace. I also was lucky enough to have a teensy tiny crochet hook for the beads, so I threw a couple in to see how it looks. I am not convinced that I like the red beads BUT I will give it a try. We'll see. It will give a nice contrast. Anyways, since it is my first lace, it's also my first blocking, etc... so this is not the prettiest work I have ever done, but I will stick to it and see. I don't know how far I'll get, either, because the day hint #1 comes out, my mom arrives from Maine for a 9 day visit, so I'll be about a week behind.

On a positive note, this is my first KAL so I am very excited. It is amazing the friendships and warmth that develops when you get a bunch of knitters together, even if it is online.

Y'all have a wonderful day,
Blessings to Ya

I took this test....

I took this blogthings test on personality type...here are the results, they are pretty accurate!

You Are An ENFJ
The Giver
You strive to maintain harmony in relationships, and usually succeed.Articulate and enthusiastic, you are good at making personal connections.Sometimes you idealize relationships too much - and end up being let down. You find the most energy and comfort in social situations ... where you shine.
In love, you are very protective and supporting. However, you do need to "feel special" - and it's quite easy for you to get jealous.
At work, you are a natural leader. You can help people discover their greatest potential. You would make a good writer, human resources director, or psychologist. How you see yourself: Trusting, idealistic, and expressive
When other people don't get you, they see you as: Bossy, inappropriate, and loud

A Special Cap and some great yarn!!!

Here is a picture of the beginning of a chemo cap for my friend. The yarn is Loft by Zitron, isn't it just so rich??? It reminds me of red wine, chocolate, and roses. The book is open on the pattern I am knitting...Asymmetrical Cable Hat from One Skein. The only think I might do different is find a way to decrease it to a rounded top, or leave out the pom-pom. What do you think???

Beauty Tips

The following is a poem by Audrey Hepburn. I have read this many times before, and think it is so perfect. Enjoy!

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness...

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone...

People, even more than things, have to be restored,

renewed, revived, reclaimed,and redeemed
;

never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand,

you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older,you will discover that you have two hands;

one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Jaywalker 1 almost done

I am almost finished my first Jaywalker....I am still deciding if I like the Trekking XXL. I don't know if I am being blind, but I have not seen a color repeat yet, and I wonder if it repeats exactly half way through....I am hoping, because it would be nice to have them match. Anyone reading this ever had this dilemma?
OTN - "Spirit" wristbands for my daughters...Our school colors are blue and white, and they wear their spirit shirts on Fridays at school. I am making them blue and white striped wristbands with Knitpicks Pallette. I hope to find unicorn (school mascot) charms at Hobby Lobby to attach - I think that will look nice. I'll post a pic when I am done both.
