My kiddos got a crash course on addiction when my dad passed away from alcoholism. That was 3 years ago - I have always spoken candidly about addiction to them. We also have spoken about how every person has different experiences and many have exp. that cause them to feel unlovable or unworthy. It wasn't difficult for them to understand because we have discussed it so much.
